Financial Vocabulary

Custodian

A custodian is a financial institution that holds and manages a client's securities or other assets on his/her behalf.  Similar to a bank, a  custodian provides investors with a place to store assets with little risk.  Webb Financial Group uses Charles Schwab Inc. and Fidelity Investments for custodians.

Fiduciary

A fiduciary is a selected individual/organization that is legally obligated to act on behalf of another.  Fiduciaries assume a duty to act in good faith, with care, and in the client's best interest.  Therefore conflicts of interest must be avoided.  Webb Financial Group is an Independent Registered Investment Advisor regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and is held to this rigorous standard.

Volatility

Volatility is a measurement of a security's stability and is an important measure in quantifying risk.

Vehicle

Vehicles are specific investments that have attributes that are intended to accomplish certain goals. Examples of investment vehicles include common stock, preferred stock, bonds, options, futures, annuities, and collectibles.

Proxy

A proxy is a person that is authorized to act for another.

What do we manage?

We focus our services on providing wealth manage solutions of these five key components plus additional areas which apply to your specific situation.

  • Investments: Properly align both short-term and long-term investment strategies based on your goals, objectives, and risk tolerance.
  • Tax: Provide up-to-date tax management advice relevant to your situation while minimizing tax liabilities today and tomorrow.
  • Retirement: Transition from “I want to retire” to “I can retire.” We understand the issues regarding retirement.
  • Insurance: Protection against catastrophic life-changing events. There is more to insurance than just saving money.
  • Estate: Make sure that your family is taken care of and that your wishes are followed, should something happen to you.
What are Small and Large-cap Funds?

Small-cap funds (small-capitalization) focus on companies with a market value below $1 Billion.  Because of their volatility, small-cap funds require that you have enough time to make up for short-term losses. Small companies will eventually regain favor as markets settle down, and, when they do, they will likely grow more quickly than their larger cousins.

Large-cap funds generally invest in companies with market values of greater than $8 billion.  These funds tend to invest in companies that you know. Some examples might be Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, and 3M.

There are also Mid-cap funds and, as you would expect, they fall right in the middle of the two.

Insurance products are compensated though a commission. Additional services such as estate, tax and financial planning are compensated based on a plan fee.

How do you get started?

We offer a no cost, no obligation initial consultation. At your consultation we will discuss your goals, your objectives, and your current situation.  We will then make investment recommendations tailored to your needs. We meet with you as often as needed to:

  • Answer your questions and address your concerns
  • Review portfolio performance
  • Make alterations to your plan to accommodate any major changes in your personal circumstances
Who will I work with in your office?

You will always have a primary contact with one of our experienced advisors. However, we work as a team at Webb Financial Group, so all of our business professionals will be a part of your overall experience.

Can you provide references?

We would be happy to provide references once we have had an initial meeting and you express an interest in our services.

Will you work with me on an engagement or planning basis only?

Yes, but we find the best long-term success occurs when we work with clients who want us to be their main financial advisor.  Financial Planning services start at $1,500 for clients who do not retain us for investment management services.
